Senior Manager, HC, ARA, Retirement and Pension Actuary

Deloitte Consulting LLP seeks a Senior Manager, Human Capital (HC), Actuarial, Rewards and Analytics (ARA), Retirement and Pension Actuary in Dallas, Texas and various unanticipated Deloitte office locations and client sites nationally.

Work You'll Do

Design and evaluate employee benefit programs for a wide range of clients, with an emphasis on pension and post-retirement medical and insurance plans. Work with client teams to determine the adequacy, funding requirements, and financial impact of benefit plans and ensure compliance with government regulations and financial accounting standards. Understand design, funding methods, financing, communication and administration of retirement plans. Manage day-to-day interactions with executive clients and sponsors; organize and lead pursuit teams. Develop practical solutions and methodologies. Assist in new business development by working with Managers and Principals. Provide leadership and support for delivery teams and staff in local offices. Participate in Total Rewards engagements outside of the Retirement practice that will broaden overall human resource knowledge. Participate in Total Rewards practice development initiatives. Direct the design employee benefits and retirement consulting projects by effectively managing clients, projects, and team members to meet client expectations. Guide team to analyze data and apply actuarial principles and skills to deliver pension related financial results of high quality including pension plan funded status and accounting information, plan design projections and analysis under various regulatory standards to clients. Review teams' actuarial valuations in accordance with IRS regulations, PPA, and financial accounting standards, and ensure timely delivery of government form filings. Review teams' data and asset reconciliations, individual sample cases, and liability results for pension and post-retirement medical and insurance plans. Oversee preparation of preliminary results and reports for funding and financial accounting purposes for pension and post-retirement medical and insurance plans. Manage preparation and calculation of PBGC annual premiums for qualified pension plans. Advise team in conducting non-discrimination testing for qualified pension plans. Direct and guide team in conducting data analysis, annual valuations and reports, benefit calculations and benchmarking analysis for pension and post-retirement medical and insurance plans. Advise and assist with client team staffing, workflow and utilization, train and supervise the team. Coordinate client team staffing, workflow and utilization between US resources and affiliate offices in offshore locations. Perform role of counselor and coach to staff, actively engage in performance management, and teams' delivery of client work and career growth.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Actuarial Science, Economics, Finance or Math or related field.
  • Must have six years of progressively responsible experience providing retirement actuary consulting services on behalf of a global consulting company.
  • Must have six years of experience with:
  • Designing employee benefits and retirement consulting projects by effectively managing clients, projects, and team members to meet client expectations;
  • Analyzing data and applying actuarial principles and skills to deliver pension related financial results of high quality including pension plan funded status and accounting information, plan design projections and analysis under various regulatory standards to clients;
  • Reviewing teams' actuarial valuations in accordance with IRS regulations, PPA, and financial accounting standards, and ensuring timely delivery of government form filings;

  • 50% travel required.
  • Must have completed 5 actuarial exams under the U.S. Society of Actuaries ("SOA").
  • In the alternative, the employer will accept a Master's degree or foreign equivalent degree in the stated field plus four years of progressively responsible experience.
  • Employer will accept pre-or-post-Master's degree experience
  • Any suitable combination of education, training or experience is acceptable.
