Work you'll do
As an intern in the Technology Consulting practice, you'll work with an experienced team to act as a strategic advisor to clients and assist them in the application, custom development, and management of technology to help enhance their business' performance. You'll play a key role in the design, installation, testing and maintenance of application software, and leverage information technology to solve business problems through decision support, analytics, and data warehousing systems. Based on your project requirements, you may be responsible for coding entirely new custom software applications, or you may use 'off the shelf' software, requiring you to modify and integrate it into an existing system to meet business needs.
As an intern, your tasks may include:
- Producing detailed specifications and developing program code
- Working closely with analysts, designers, and subject matter experts
- Functional testing of systems in a controlled environment
- Constructing transition plans from the project to the support team
- Helping maintain clients' applications and technology infrastructure
- Delivering Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence solutions
- Creating and customizing strategic and operational reporting solutions
- Leveraging business discovery tools to provide client decision support
Key skills include: analyzing information, eliciting software requirements, general programming, software design, debugging, documentation, testing, problem solving, and teamwork.

We work with clients and help them develop custom software solutions, manage their applications and databases, and provide strategic recommendations to help them optimize their businesses' operations, processes, and performance. - Bachelor of Science degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or IT-related area
- Strong academic track record (minimum GPA of 3.0)
- Ability to troubleshoot, problem solve, and simplify complex technical issues for clients
- Knowledge of software development principles and hands-on programming experience through coursework or internship AND/OR knowledge of relational database principles, data modeling and schemas
- Willingness to travel up to 15 percent of the time

Throughout the course of the 8-10 internship experience, you'll receive formal and informal mentorship and training. Our intern training program provides a view both into the technical skills as well as critical professional behaviors, standards, and mindsets required to make the most of your internship. The program includes a variety of team-based, hands-on exercises and activities.
