Consultant, Government Pricing - Life Sciences Advisory

Work You'll Do

Senior Consultants will synthesize overall strategy by analyzing a wide variety of solutions, selecting the most relevant tools/techniques to meet specific client requirements such as business case, pricing, or complex financial analysis, and interpreting and reporting on outputs. Engagements may include but are not limited to strategic management consulting related to product pricing and Government Pricing (GP), Gross to Net and other financial modeling/analysis, pre and post product and company acquisition GP and contracting related support, government programs compliance assessments and audits, performance of parallel calculations (Excel based), recalculations and restatements of government statutory pricing calculations, Fair Market Value (FMV) and Bonafide Service Fee (BFSF) assessments, methodology review, GP and contracting governance documentation, assisting new manufacturers in entering into government agreements, as well as integration into Deloitte's proprietary calculation system

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the Government Programs Project Manager to prepare slide decks, status reports, assessment reports and other client deliverables
  • Provide strategic management consulting related to product pricing and GP
  • Develop and assess the policies, procedures and systems which support the submission of pricing information to federal and state agencies
  • Assist with development and evaluation of contract options for Commercial and Government payers
  • Evaluate contract proposals and analyses and perform impact on government pricing and gross to net revenue
  • Actively participate in methodology review/development discussions with clients;
  • Stay up to date on legislation as it relates to government pricing in order to provide consultation to clients
  • Work with external legal counsel for pharmaceutical manufacturers on methodology reviews
  • Assess current data structures and data sets of clients in order to develop methodology and to perform parallel calculations validating these methodologies;
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for internal questions about client data and methodologies
  • Perform financial modeling/analysis which may include FMV and BFSF assessments
  • Manage staff and the completion of deliverables as required
  • Work with client and integration and operations teams to set up ongoing methodologies in proprietary Government Pricing System


Qualifications
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience is required
  • Experience as a consultant supporting the life sciences industry, particularly the pharmaceutical industry is strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of the managed markets space
  • Strong knowledge of GP and Gross to Net impacts and key drivers
  • Strong analytical skills, including understanding of data relationships and advanced Excel knowledge
  • Able to comprehend complex government compliance requirements and GP regulations and, retain, build upon and apply this knowledge on a daily basis
  • Comfortable with data analysis, with at least 2 years of data analysis experience in industry, as a consultant, or in school
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • High accuracy rate and strong attention to detail
  • Hard working and intrinsically motivated
  • Ability to work independently; lead small teams focused on specific work streams of larger projects
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills (MS Visio, MS PowerPoint)
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products required and knowledge of advanced Excel techniques such as pivot tables and data importing is desired
  • Financial and Accounting background is preferred
  • Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills with the ability to exercise mature judgment
  • Eagerness to mentor junior staff
  • Bachelor's degree required; an advanced degree is preferred
  • Willingness to travel up to 70%
