Job Purpose Summary

The essential responsibilities of the Quality Assurance Automation Engineer II are to create and modify Selenium automated test scripts based on manual test cases, functional requirements or existing functionality of the system. These automated tests are to be developed in keeping with the established automation framework. Analyze test results and reports any issues or defects found to the responsible QA, development or business unit. Perform code reviews of automation scripts for compliance with department standards. Effectively communicate with QA team members and other

team members in SCRUM team. The role of the automation engineer is to build scripts that will increase the coverage of QA’s functional and regression testing while making the testing more efficient as to be able to execute multiple times if needed.

Essential Job Duties

  • Designs/build test automation frame works
  • Develop test scripts for business functional work flows within established frame work eg: Robot/Jbehave/
  • Cucumber
  • Executes tests scripts for Integration and regression testing for maintenance/project releases
  • Analyzes manual test cases and functional specifications to determine best approach for automating scripts.
  • Facilitate the decomposition of business requirements into Use Cases and Acceptance Criteria
  • Documents scripts with comments to provide insight to test logic
  • Actively participates in Sprint planning sessions and provides estimates and status updates on automation scripts
  • Maintenance Debug Automated Tests when/where possible
  • Participate in Deployment Testing exercises as needed
  • Participate in all team scrum ceremonies
  • Collaborate with Software Engineers during code development
  • Ability to mentor other manual and automation engineers


Job Qualifications


  • Associate’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent technical experience


  • Strong development skills with Java, C#, Python or any other programming language
  • 5 +years of automation experience
  • Experience using performance testing tools and techniques
  • Programming experience with Object Oriented languages
  • Experience testing desktop, web, and mobile applications
  • Experience of web services testing
