Assistant Actuary - Commercial

Play a key part in creating and maintaining a new performance management operation for Commercial Business and Markets. Participate in building a new comprehensive process for operational and financial performance evaluation and management across all markets for the Commercial line of business.
Help bring transparency and heightened awareness to the issues and opportunities that are influencing financial performance at a local market level, with respect to achievement of pricing and Plan assumptions, and execution on strategic initiatives.
Work across markets to drive pModel, SAI, and medical cost strategies. Support and enable disciplined execution and deep understanding of market results. Deconstruct national results to the market level and identify leading vs. lagging markets. Pull together data and reporting from multiple sources, and turn that data into actionable information.
First design and develop reporting (performance measures/dashboard) on market progress against pricing and Plan commitments, and against benchmarks and other comparators. Then put reporting into practice, preparing and presenting at monthly Quick Strikes and in other forums. Enable optimization of performance and explanation of financial impacts to the market P&L.
Proactively monitor and analyze results; provide observations/insights on performance. Work with business partners on strategies to resolve issues and improve outcomes. Identify and leverage best practices across markets, building consistent processes and approaches. Identify gaps in processes or organization; develop and implement solutions. Cultivate continuous improvement to improve performance results. Collaboration and engagement with local market leadership, NSPE, Clinical, Segment Finance/Local Market Finance, Actuarial, and MEU is critical to success.
The ideal candidate will be intellectually curious, tenacious in solving problems, and skilled in financial analysis. Demonstrates urgency and holds self and others accountable for achieving high standards of performance and customer service.
-Bachelor's degree with 4+ years related work experience.
-Must have your ASA (Associate of the Society of Actuaries) or FSA (Fellow of the Society of Actuaries)
-Strong technical, analytical & financial skills
MEU experience desired but not required.
