Front End Engineer

Curalate is looking for talented front-end web developers to join our solutions engineering team.  Our software-as-a-service product today empowers marketers at over 800 of the world’s greatest brands to gather, analyze, and monetize imagery from across the visual web.  To be most effective, Curalate needs to integrate directly into these brands’ existing data flows and pipelines.  These integrations will be seen by millions of customers every day and are mission critical for both Curalate and our clients; when successful, they allow our clients to drive real ROI from our tools and services.  In addition, the insights we gain from these integrations play a critical role in improving our product and shaping our long-term roadmap.

Check out our Engineering Blog to get a window into what we are building at Curalate and what we're geeked about!

As a Front End (solutions) engineer, you’ll play dual roles of web developer and technical project manager.  As a web developer, you’ll write tight HTML, CSS, and Javascript to seamlessly integrate and customize Curalate’s products.  Your work will be highly-visible -- over five million customers will see it every day -- so the margin for error is small.  Because Curalate’s DNA is that of a software company, you can expect best-of-class tooling and processes (think code reviews, linting, etc.) to support every integration you work on.

As a project manager, you’ll collaborate with some of the coolest, most innovative consumer brands in the world to develop an optimal strategy for leveraging Curalate’s suite of products.  You’ll gather requirements, maintain schedules, and navigate around roadblocks.

Finally, because you’re going to be closer to our APIs and their consumers than anyone else in the company, we’ll lean on you to help shape our internal product pipeline and drive innovation.  Does one of our APIs drive you nuts?  If so, we expect you to be the first to tell us... and ideally to help us design a better one.

About You

As a Front End (solutions) engineer, you must have extremely strong web development skills.  This means:

  • You have 2+ years of web dev experience
  • You are highly proficient in HTML, CSS, JS, and jQuery
  • You have experience using source control
  • You have extensive experience building beautiful, cross-browser compatible web experiences
  • You’ve previously built for mobile

Gold Stars:

  • You’ve previously worked as a project manager
  • You’ve been in a client-facing role
  • You know backbone.js.

Things change quickly at early-stage startups, and Curalate is just barely three years old.  As a result, we’re especially interested in exceptional problem solving skills and creative out-of-the-box thinking.  While we're not looking for any specific industry experience, you should come prepared to join a fast-moving team. Above all else, we're looking for others who are as excited about the potential in this space as we are, and who will be willing to join us in moving fast and breaking things as we execute against that vision.
