DESCRIPTION
We are looking for a talented Business Development Specialist - Senior to join our team specializing in Sales for our Head Office Administration Department in Accra, Ghana.
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
- Spotting Growth Opportunities You'll be the eyes and ears on the ground, identifying untapped market segments, product lines, and regions that offer high potential for expansion.
- Turning Data into Strategy By analyzing market research and public data, you'll help prioritize which opportunities are worth pursuing, ensuring resources are focused where they'll deliver the most value.
- Bridging Teams for Success Collaborating with Marketing, Sales, and Business Development Managers, you'll align cross-functional efforts to drive targeted initiatives that resonate with the market.
- Building Market Intelligence Through industry events and customer interactions, you'll deepen your understanding of market dynamics, customer pain points, and emerging trends - shaping smarter strategies.
- Driving Local Business Wins You'll prospect and engage with specific accounts, uncovering their needs and positioning Cummins solutions as the clear choice - often initiating the first spark of a new customer relationship.
- Crafting Strategic Account Plans Your research into customer business models and buying processes will inform tailored account plans that speak directly to their priorities and challenges.
- Fueling Sales Momentum Whether supporting proposals or closing deals, you'll play a key role in converting opportunities into revenue - and ensuring smooth handoffs to Account Managers for long-term success.
- Elevating the Team By mentoring junior staff and sharing insights across the sales organization, you'll amplify the team's capabilities and contribute to a culture of continuous growth.
RESPONSIBILITIES
To be successful in this role you will need the following:
- Strategic Agility & Market Insight A deep understanding of China's industrial ecosystem - especially mining, oil & gas, and OEM sectors - paired with the ability to craft and execute growth strategies that align with local business dynamics and regulatory frameworks.
- Relationship Mastery & Cultural Fluency Strong interpersonal skills and cultural sensitivity to build trust with key Chinese OEMs (like XCMG, NHL, SANY, CRRC) and mining customers. You'll need to champion satisfaction while navigating complex stakeholder networks and decision-making hierarchies.
- Channel & Compliance Expertise The ability to assess and enhance channel capabilities, support distributors effectively, and ensure full alignment with Cummins' 4 pillar compliance standards - all while maintaining operational excellence across the value chain.
- Operational Coordination & Forecasting Precision Proficiency in regional forecasting and factory coordination to meet demand from strategic accounts. You'll need to synchronize supply, production, and customer expectations with precision and foresight.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education/ Experience:
- College, university, or equivalent degree in marketing, sales, technical or a related subject required, or an acceptable combination of education and experience.
- Intermediate level of relevant work experience required.
