What You Will Do
In this role, you will oversee and manage various aggregate and ready-mix sites/departments in all aspects of safety, operations, sales, finance, equipment, and critical support functions. You will work to resolve the challenges that the organization faces and ensure the effective execution of company operational goals and growth strategies. As the Area Manager, you will see the visible results of your work each day, playing an integral part as we stand together to reinvent the way our world is built.
What You Can Do (Minimum Qualifications)
- You're an effective leader with 5+ years of experience managing people.
- You have a thorough background in ready-mix concrete, including familiarity with delivery logistics and commercial/residential sales (5-10 years).
- You're passionate about influencing and building teams, promoting a safe working environment for all employees, and have a desire to continuously improve the business through innovation while effectively managing change.
- You place a strong emphasis on always providing exceptional customer service to internal and external customers, and work diligently to find the best solutions when problems arise.
- You have a basic understanding of accounting principles, budgets and/or forecasting.
- You're proficient with PC programs and the Microsoft Office Suite, and possess the ability to quickly learn new programs and applications.
- You have a valid drivers license, the ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen, and have current US Authorization to work, or the ability to obtain prior to start without company assistance.
- To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)
- Promote a safe work environment for all employees; work with safety and field personnel to minimize risk and always increase safety for employees.
- Responsible for daily operations including safe production, quality, customer focus and maintaining the integrity of the safety and environmental systems within the company's operations for ready-mix and aggregate production locations.
- Ensure all required permitting is accurate and up to date within area of responsibility.
- Drive operational performance and improvements to meet or exceed company goals.
- Generate and manage the operating budget for the fiscal year under the direction of the General Manager.
- Provide leadership and direction to ensure efficiency, quality, service, and cost-effective management of all product resources.
- Build effective teams and develop (direct reports) for future opportunities.
- Ensure that all crews have the tools and training to operate safely at all times and that all federal, state and local laws concerning safety, environmental, EEO, and other applicable areas are adhered to.
- Monitor/control production through direction of the site managers to ensure safe production, on schedule, and within budget; investigate potentially serious situations and implement corrective measures.
- Provide advice and support to team during the job bidding process through job completion.
- Work with General Manager to establish long-range goals, strategies, plans, and policies.
- Provide leadership and direction in sales and marketing efforts resulting in maximum product sales, meeting or exceeding customer expectations, and driving maximum profitability.
- Regular and predictable attendance.
- Communicate professionally, timely, clearly, and concisely to all levels of employees through various media (verbally, email, text, etc.).
- Regularly attend and be an active, positive, contributor to various business and management meetings.
- Seek "out of the box" business ideas to help sustain and grow the business.
- May travel outside of the area up less than 10% of the time.
- Participate in and promote a diverse and inclusive work environment.

- Ability to walk or stand greater than one third of the time, or sit no greater than a third of the time
- Ability to climb stairs/ladders to examine equipment at heights.
- Ability to move/carry objects up to 50 lbs. unassisted.

- Will work between a standard office and field operations environment.
