Accountant

Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Accountant to support our growing site preparation operations. Reporting directly to the Controller, this role is responsible for accurately tracking and recording all dirt tickets-both external sales and internal job transfers-while maintaining precise records of hauler time sheets. The ideal candidate is organized, analytical, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with a strong focus on meeting deadlines, particularly during month-end close.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform high-volume data entry and reconciliation within the accounting system.
  • Enter all dirt tickets daily to ensure accurate and up-to-date job cost records.
  • Process weekly invoices for external customers.
  • Maintain oversight and record of customer and internal job pricing updates.
  • Record and reconcile hauler time sheets with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Collaborate with sales and management teams to identify and resolve discrepancies.
  • Address billing inquiries or disputes promptly and professionally.
  • Assist with Accounts Receivable functions, including determining appropriate application of customer payments once received.
  • Monitor aging reports and follow up on outstanding balances to ensure timely collections and proper cash flow management.
  • Partner with the accounting team to ensure all transactions comply with SOX controls and internal financial policies.
  • Prepare and deliver accurate reports to management as needed.
  • Support month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring all deliverables are completed on time.
  • Assist with other accounting projects as needed.

Qualifications
  • Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis.
  • Experience with construction accounting software (e.g., Viewpoint or similar platforms).
  • Knowledge of SOX controls and their application in daily accounting activities.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage large volumes of manual data entry efficiently and accurately.
  • Proven ability to meet tight deadlines, especially during month-end close.
  • Prior experience in construction, operations, or accounting is a plus.
