Process Sustaining Engineer - Etch

Job Description

Cree | Wolfspeed's Global Operations team is seeking a Process Sustaining Engineer - Etch. The engineer chosen for this position will be a key member of the fab sustaining engineering team. This team is responsible for the process engineering functions of a 24X7 compound semiconductor fab operation.
Initially, this position will be located at our Durham, North Carolina facility. After two to four years (depending on business needs and the progress of construction), this position will relocate to our new facility in the Utica, New York area to support our expansion plans.

What can you do for Cree | Wolfspeed?

  • Sustain and improve processes for LED, POWER, and RF device fabrication.
  • Interface with equipment engineering, management and manufacturing to improve cycle time, tool
    availability, process/product yield, and drive cost reductions.
  • Partner with product engineering and R&D to ensure effective new product and process introductions as well as consistent device performance and quality.
  • Create and maintain operating specifications for production processes and equipment.
  • Drive innovation and continuous improvement in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

What you need for success:
  • BS in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or Equivalent.
  • 2+ yrs. Wafer Fab Engineering Experience, ideally with compound semiconductors.
  • Working knowledge of Wafer Fab Processes.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule in support of 24x7 manufacturing. Standard work week will be either Sunday - Thursday or Tuesday - Saturday.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship by the Company.
Highly Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
  • In-depth technical understanding of semiconductor processes and equipment.
  • Specific experience with Etch processes.
  • Excellent project management skills with demonstrated ability to identify manufacturing improvements, manage change, and implement solutions.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability and desire to assume a technical leadership role within the organization.
  • Working knowledge of applied statistics (SPC/DOE)
  • Experience with structured problem-solving methods including model-based, 8D, fishbone, and 5 whys.
