Senior Network Engineer

Credit Karma is currently seeking a highly proficient Network Engineer who has hands-on experience in Enterprise and DataCenter networking technologies. This position will have a focus on the DataCenter networking and security infrastructure. Credit Karma’s network team operates a constantly growing network and is implementing cutting-edge technology that is the foundation for a platform that used by millions of users daily.

Credit Karma’s Network team is responsible for all aspects of network infrastructure operations and maintaining the highest levels of uptime and performance. Responsibilities include designing and supporting the Credit Karma network infrastructure for high-availability and security, planning and executing multiple projects, and supporting 24/7/365 site operations.  Our ideal candidate is an experienced network engineer who thrives in fast-paced environments, is able to work independently or as part of a project team, provide research, recommendations and solutions for redundancy, availability, scalability, and performance improvement

What the Job Entails

  • Design and implementation of extensive routing infrastructure via BGP and OSPF protocols
  • Mitigating Security issues, vulnerabilities and attacks
  • Sharing 24x7 on-call rotation to provide problem resolution and escalation
  • Alerting and Logging configuration, validation and operation
  • Documentation of configurations and incident post mortem
  • Change management, process, documentation & response procedures
  • Automate production-grade security controls for Hosted, Amazon Web Services and GCE network environments
  • Provision and turn-up of carrier transport and Internet circuits and VPN’s
  • Configuration, testing and validation of hardware and software components of network infrastructure
  • Proactive performance and uptime monitoring
  • Lead consistent improvement by refining tools and automation
  • Tracking and planning of capacity
  • Leveraging adroit communication skills and organizational savvy, to steer peers and leadership toward solutions that carefully balance business, risk, compliance, and engineering concerns
  • Mentorship of junior and mid-level engineers

Our Ideal Candidate

  • CCIE or JNCIE certification or equivalent experience
  • 10+ years of direct involvement with network configurations in a high demand/high capacity production environment
  • Thorough understanding of InfoSec control frameworks and how they can be realistically implemented
  • Expert knowledge of network security including Firewalls, IDS sensors, VPN’s, Identity and Access Management,  SaaS security
  • Thought leadership in the security field, with demonstrable contributions to industry groups and iterative approach to solution design
  • Experience in high volume, fault tolerant networking designs
  • Experience with Splunk and Elastic Search tools
  • Proficiency in multiple network hardware vendor syntax including Cisco, Juniper and Load balancing technologies
  • Advanced knowledge of Enterprise campus wireless deployments and management
  • Advanced knowledge in scripting and automation tools, python knowledge is a plus
  • Operational experience with netflow and packet trace analysis
  • Ability to work independently and own an infrastructure build out from start to finish
  • Ability to travel
  • Proven experience with public cloud deployment (AWS, and/or GCP)
