Senior Copywriter

Credit Karma is working to make financial progress possible for everyone. Part of the Brand and Communications Team, the Creative Team owns brand expression in the company's marketing channels and helps drive consistently high levels of consumer and member engagement.

Reporting to the Head of Copy, the Senior Copywriter is responsible for concept and copy development in Credit Karma's broadcast and digital channels. The Senior Copywriter partners with Strategists, Account, Art Directors, Designers, Producers and other writers to create brand and direct-response campaigns that extend from TV through social media, digital advertising, web and email.

What you'll get to do:

  • Independently owning concept and copy development from kickoff through legal review
  • Writing copy that meets brand and business goals and delivers on strategy outlined in creative brief
  • Ensuring copy aligns with Credit Karma's mission and values, is consistently engaging, presents a compelling offer, and targets defined audience/s
  • Developing social media concepts/copy that are memorable and shareable
  • Exemplifying the company's brand voice in all channels
  • Presenting to stakeholders, providing strategic and creative rationale
  • Incorporating stakeholder feedback and knowing when to push back with solid rationale
  • Ensuring copy meets all editorial standards and regulatory/legal requirements
  • Partnering with product and UX teams to ensure cohesive messaging
  • Inspiring and mentoring junior writers on the team
  • Proposing process improvements and sharing creative best practices

What we expect:

  • 7+ years experience as a copywriter for a consumer brand, either agency or in-house, or a combination
  • A portfolio showing broadcast and digital work, preferably with a campaign focus
  • Ability to develop concepts that are on-brief and compelling
  • Experience developing copy for different channels and understanding best practices for each
  • Solid understanding of brand and brand standards and expressing brand voice in different media
  • Ability to understand and interpret test results and evolve copy approach
  • Experience with consumer finance helpful
  • B.A. in English, Creative Writing, Journalism or Communications preferred
