Recommendation System Analyst

Credit Karma is working to make financial progress possible for everyone. Data and analytics play a pivotal role in this mission and every part of our business – informing new product design, driving marketing efficiency, and powering the recommendations we personalize to each of our 80+ million members.

We’re looking for a Senior Recommendation System Analyst to drive the growth and optimization of financial product recommendations across the Credit Karma platform. If you love tackling complex, large-scale analytics challenges, this role could be for you.

What you’ll do:

  • Optimize the performance of the Credit Karma recommendation engine from a holistic level - rather than by vertical or by placement
  • Support cross-functional business partners by figuring out how our recommendation system can be used to meet business objectives
  • Predict revenue impact from changes in pricing, underwriting, approval models, and user behavior
  • Work closely with engineering and data science teams to improve the technology and models that drive recommendations
  • Provide feedback to the product and design teams on how changes in the product impact our recommendations and give guidance on how to improve that experience
  • Develop hypotheses and run experiments around what recommendations drive better outcomes for our members
  • Support ongoing analysis and monitoring of revenue funnels across the platform

What’s great about it:

  • You’ll get to solve highly analytical problems and have a direct impact on the bottom line
  • The role is highly cross-functional, which means you get to work with engineering, business development, product, and data science
  • The impact of your work will be highly visible, with the executive team as key stakeholders
  • Your work will help us design better products, improve user experience, and inform overall business strategy
  • Learn how Credit Karma leverages Machine Learning at scale to make billions of predictions each day, with the ability to build your own models to help push the business forward

What we expect:

  • 3+ years of relevant experience
  • BS/MS in Business, Economics, Engineering, Math, Stats, or equivalent experience
  • Ability to problem-solve and understand key drivers of the business
  • Desire to communicate complex problems in simple terms
  • Strong SQL or Excel skills with the ability to learn R, Python and other analytic tools
  • Interest in learning about how we make billions of predictions each day using Machine Learning at Credit Karma
