Credit Karma is looking for a highly collaborative copy editor who’s eager to join a mission-driven organization that’s making financial progress possible for everyone.

You’ll join a team with exceptionally high editorial standards. Our team has worked at some of the top journalism and personal finance outlets in the U.S. and we’re growing rapidly.

You’ll play a pivotal role in the future of our content roadmap and you’ll be expected to quickly take ownership of content that matters to tens of millions of U.S. and Canadian consumers.

Your Profile:

  • Highly detail-oriented and intensely focused on elevating the quality of content and producing accurate and logical final copy
  • Experienced at sourcing, editing and publishing digital content that moves readers in a tangible way – to explore related content, take action, share insights with friends and family or interact with relevant products or services 
  • High comfort level with negotiating or drafting changes with freelance and in-house writers
  • Data-driven. You love to dig into performance analytics

What You’ll Do:

  • Copy edit a steady flow of content for SEO and product
  • Manage the flow of content through compliance. Be the arbiter of our brand and style guide
  • Update and iterate style guide and editorial documentation
  • Add significant value to Credit Karma content through effective communication with writers, strict attention to regulatory and compliance requirements and top-notch ability to elevate content quality
  • Know our CMS inside-out and use it to publish well-rounded, engaging, best-in-class content
  • Collaborate frequently with our Creative team to produce compelling, visually driven pages and special products
  • Lend your well-researched content ideas to a robust editorial calendar

What We Expect:

  • Experience copy-editing in a newsroom or digital-first environment
  • An empathetic understanding of the needs of everyday Americans as it relates to their financial goals and economic security
  • Experience publishing content using a CMS
  • A willingness to learn and grow as our team expands
  • An excellent grasp of English grammar that’s balanced by an even stronger grasp of how people actually talk
  • The ability to write as well as you edit and a willingness to use this skill as needed

Our Ideal Candidate:

  • 2-4 years of editing  experience in the digital space
  • A bachelor’s degree that emphasizes a love of language and well-above-average proficiency in written English. That might be Journalism, English, Communications / Marketing, Public Relations or something similarly relevant
  • Basic SEO knowledge
  • Familiarity with an analytics platform, such as Google Analytics
  • Knows AP Style in and out
  • Prior experience in financial services journalism or content creation in a highly regulated environment.
