The Manager, Software Development position will be primarily responsible for managing, planning and coordinating all activities associated with creating Covius software and software as a service (SaaS) components and database environments as well as provide leadership and management to the team members.
Essential Functions
Oversees a team to develop software applications from inception through completion
Manage the overall development lifecycle for applications and services using Agile methodologies, specifically Scrum
Define project scope, goals and deliverables that support business goals and customer requirements in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders
Reviews requirements, software designs, code, documentation and deployment plans
Proactively manage changes in project scope and priorities, identify potential gaps, and devise contingency plans
Works with internal teams to investigate system issues in order to provide production support and/or explanation and participate in identifying the root cause of an issue when applicable
Proactively manages software components including owning the roadmap for functional components of our platform, identifying maintenance and support patterns, conducting root cause analyses of issues
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent level of experience required
5+ years of experience using MS .NET C#, MS SQL Server and XML
5+ years of experience developing SaaS products and Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) platforms
Hands-on experience with Microservices
Experience with test automation
5+ years of professional development experience with Visual Studio .Net
Strong knowledge and experience with Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) practices
4+ years of experience using Agile methodologies, preferably Scrum and Kanban
Experience with JIRA is preferred
Mortgage or Financial Services industry experience is a plus
Essential Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong experience using objected oriented programing languages, database programing languages and XML
Effective in high pressure, high growth and high transaction throughput/volume environments
Able to work independently and collaboratively
Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills for coordinating with technical and non-technical staff
Possess strong problem solving and analytical skills
Working Conditions
Work is performed in climate controlled indoor administrative office setting. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate, depending upon office or meeting location.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate. The employee frequently is required to remain stationary. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move 10 pounds. Vision: Close and distance required with ability to see objects in presence of glare or bright lighting (e.g., computer screen). Speech/Hearing: Frequently interact with management, vendors, coworkers, industry constituents, clients and the public.
