Software Engineer II

The Software Engineer works under supervision of more senior Engineers or Managers to design and maintain all company software, in-house or otherwise. The Software Engineer relies on limited experience, judgment and established guidelines to complete tasks assigned by managers or more senior Software Engineers. Primary functions typically require exercising independent judgment.

Bachelor's degree in a related area as well as 2-5 years of experience or at least 4 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Has knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures. Knowledge of object oriented programming languages such as C++, Java, etc. and scripting languages such as Perl, Python, etc. Working knowledge of either back end data processing or front-end reporting and UI frameworks.

JOB FUNCTION:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Modifies, writes and documents software programming applications.
  • Limited product design or development.
  • May assist in consulting with client to gather information about program needs, objectives, functions, features and input and output requirements.
  • May code screen layouts, graphical user interfaces, printed outputs and interfaces with other systems.
  • Compiles code into programs and corrects errors detected in compile process.
  • May assist with installing and testing programs at client site.
  • Monitors performance of programs after implementation.
  • Bug fixes and UI changes
  • Follows development best practices and standards.
  • Ability to review and refine existing practices.
  • Ability to estimate, design and develop, quality enhancements to system.
  • Pair with development resources where appropriate.
  • Ability to review system specifications to validate aligns with product standards. Provide feedback to scope and requirements with design solutions.
  • Understanding for product architecture and modules Contribute to the improvement of the system best practices and standards including brown bags (documentation on system coding standards, framework policy and present to peers).Understanding of product business rules and industry needs.
