The RF communications software group is seeking a software engineering intern (summer 2021) to support software development and verification activities on the next generation products. Interns will work alongside senior engineering mentors to support the design, documentation, development, debug and test of safety critical, real time embedded software.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Applies a systematic, disciplined, quantifiable approach to the construction, analysis, or management of software.
  • Expand knowledge with a primary emphasis on understanding the design of software components within a system.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
  • Understands major Collins Aerospace processes related to software development and verification and applies them to the current project.
  • Able to identify the root cause of basic to moderate software issues using appropriate debug and analysis tools, with some technical mentorship of senior engineers.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills with ability to communicate effectively.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with C/C++/Python language.
  • Experience with embedded software development.
  • Experience with real time operating systems.
  • Knowledge of avionics systems or RF communications.


Basic Qualifications:
  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and student must be pursuing a Bachelor's or advanced degree in an applicable discipline.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future. Collins Aerospace will not offer sponsorship for this position.
