This Engineering Co-op position will work with the Avionics Advanced Manufacturing team in the Burnsville, MN facility. This position is for an engineering student interested in learning engineering principles used in manufacturing and process development. If selected, the employee will become familiar with Industry 4.0 implementation and state of the art manufacturing techniques used to improve the production process.

Position responsibilities:
  • Work with Engineers from different disciplines to pilot and implement different Smart Factory solutions for new and existing manufacturing sites.
  • Learn about the IIOT (Industrial Internet of Things) and how it can be used to optimize existing manufacturing processes.
  • Review processes with a focus on using new technologies to improve performance.
  • Identify use cases for new technology manufacturing tools and machines.
  • Collect failure information and prepare failure analysis reports.
  • Analysis of various manufacturing data; i.e. Work In Process (WIP), Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), and Statistical Process Control (SPC)
  • Understand how to use the mass amount of data collected from Smart Factory solutions.
  • Solve complex production issues to improve overall yields.


Required Skills: (desired before or acquired during tenure)
  • Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • 3D modeling in Creo
  • Ability to work independently and take direction from others
  • Knowledge of Lean principles and concepts
  • Experience in developing and delivering presentations


Basic Qualifications
  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and student must be pursuing a Bachelor's or advanced degree in an applicable discipline.
  • Must be a U.S. Person/Permanent Resident "Green Card" holder.
