Backend Engineer - Engage
At Collective Health, we're modernizing employer-sponsored health insurance and building the first healthcare solution that people look forward to interacting with. Our Engage team is focused on all aspects of the customer experience, from our member portals on the web to our iOS and Android apps, from our award-winning Admin portal to cutting reimbursement checks, and delivering communications via the USPS.
As a backend engineer on our Member Core team, you will build APIs and services to enable premier user experiences for our member facing products. We think web APIs are user interfaces that require as much care and attention as the GUIs that consume them. If building robust, performant, thoughtful APIs is your passion, Member Core will be a great fit for you. You’ll also get to work on search products to support our Get Care product and our internal member tools. Our stack is primarily built in Java, but our microservice architecture allows us to employ Golang, Node, GraphQL, and other technologies when they are the right tool for the job.
As an engineering team, we believe good code is easy to read and understand. We expect all of our engineers to continually teach as well as learn. Our company as a whole places a high priority on the overall member experience, including customer support (you shouldn't have to wait on hold), legal language (you shouldn't have to be a lawyer to read your health plan), and intuitive web design.
We have a ton of interesting problems to solve around distributed systems, data pipelines, data analytics and predictions, system reliability, security, privacy, and more. If you're passionate about taking on hard problems while making a real difference in the world, we'd love to talk!
