The Role:

Clover is looking for a seasoned, holistic-minded product designer to join our Point of Sale design team in Sunnyvale and help more small businesses compete with big box stores.

In this role, you’ll apply your substantial experience designing user experiences to everyday problems faced by our small businesses at the point of sale. The problem encompasses real-world challenges: fast-moving workflows, limited focus, and a diverse set of user types and needs, ranging from Michelin-starred restaurants to contractors on-the-go.

Our highly collaborative, agile approach means you’ll be hands-on through user research, analysis, and ongoing iterative improvements. No assembly lines here — you’ll take ideas all the way from the whiteboard to finished products.

What we’re looking for:

Experience. You have a portfolio that showcases your design process and considerations that inform your design decisions and outcomes.

Collaboration. You know that the best things are made together. You’re not just open to feedback from your colleagues, you actively seek it out.

Communication. You can articulate the reasons behind your process and your decisions, in words and pictures. Your designs come to life through immaculate specs and prototypes.

Flexibility. You know that design is only as good as what can be produced — you volley with engineers and product managers to design experiences that are feasible and in scope.

Curiosity. You should be able to bring a broad range of research, ideation, and prototyping methods to the table, and a desire to learn new approaches from your colleagues. If you don’t know something about whom you’re designing for, you’re willing to find out.

Integrity. You do it because you love it, and because you love to get things right. Good design determines how products feel and how they work, and you’ll go the extra mile to get it right.

You should have:

  • 6+ years of experience designing digital experiences in a fast-moving, cross-functional design and development team.
  • Familiarity with a range of design methods, from lightweight research, user journey mapping, prototyping, wireframes, and visual design.
  • Proficiency in whatever tools you use to create and communicate, and willingness to adapt to new tools (we use Figma mostly, with Sketch and Adobe).
  • A refined sense of design fundamentals, and the ability to structure information visually.

Bonus points for:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an applicable design discipline.
  • Experience working with small businesses.
