About the department

We have over 200 colo deployments in as many cities globally, with a massive hardware presence to match. The Infrastructure Team consists of Hardware, Datacenter, and Network teams. The Hardware team is responsible for scoping, proving, & deploying new hardware technologies and systems to help Cloudflare scale & expand our Edge Compute Platform efficiently & reliably. Hardware team is also responsible for validating ODM servers that meet the challenges of a massively growing infrastructure.

What you'll do

We are looking for a talented systems engineer to be part of our new Austin office. Come be part of the founding team in our new Austin digs and work with a group of passionate, talented engineers that will be creating innovative infrastructure. The amount of request being processed is massive and we utilize all the latest technology to ensure its scalability and availability. We’re a team that aims higher! Check out what we did with ARM, and one of our new compute products we launched on our edge platform

Examples of desirable skills, knowledge and experience! 

  • Excited by the idea of using new hardware technologies to help continue building innovative edge cloud applications
  • Experience working with ODM server vendors
  • Passionate about working with mockup test units; set it up, rack it, configure it, provision it, etc.
  • Good understanding of compute & storage server architectures
  • Good Linux systems knowledge
  • Experience (and love) for hardware validation using synthetic tests & benchmarks, as well as debugging hardware problems to ensure the system works in all cases

Bonus Points

  • Experience with openBMC or other hardware security features
  • Experience with shell or python scripting to automate
  • Flexibility with some domestic travel to vendors, colos, and other Cloudflare offices
