Senior Revenue Accountant

The Senior Revenue Accountant will report to the Senior Director, Finance and Corporate Controller who resides at our corporate HQ in San Francisco.  As a member of the Finance and Accounting Operations team you will be working in a fast-paced, non-traditional environment while building relationships within the accounting team and the larger organization (e.g. Sales Operations, Sales and Services team, Legal, Marketing, Data Analytics team and Executive Management).

The Senior Revenue Accountant is responsible for many aspects of general ledger-related activities, such as technical accounting research and the proper application of US GAAP Revenue Recognition rules, review of various non-standard accounting transactions, monthly / quarterly close and balance sheet account reconciliations.  In addition, they would assist with the Order to Cash process, such as billings, collections reporting and analysis, addressing customer requests, etc., as well as interacting with our external auditors for the annual audit.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Understand and evaluate diverse financial activities to determine correct GAAP accounting treatment and adherence to internal policies, primarily related to the Order to Cash process
  • Execute monthly accounting close activities and deliverables (i.e. journal entries, account reconciliations, analytics and reporting)
  • Prepare accounting entries for various financial activities, which includes Accounts Receivable transactions, revenue accounting, and acquired entity revenue accounting
  • Manage the Customer Billings process and verify the accuracy and completeness of invoices being issued
  • Maintain and ensure the accuracy of Accounts Receivables and related accounts (i.e. Allowance for Doubtful Accounts, Bad Debt Expense, etc.)
  • Assist with managing our daily cash deposit, credit cards, and electronic payments 
  • Prepare monthly / quarterly revenue and cash deposits related reporting, along with financial statement flux variance analyses
  • Evaluate process and system infrastructure, along with identifying and implementing process improvement opportunities
  • Work with various business partners to ensure compliance with corporate accounting policies, procedures and controls, as well as provide support on special requests
  • Work cross-functionally with and support our business partners by providing financial insights and relevant reporting
  • Support the annual audit inquiries, requests and activities originating from our external auditors
  • Deliver on ad-hoc projects / deliverables as necessary

Experience / Skills Required

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance 
  • 3 to 5 years of accounting experience in a Big 4 or regional accounting firm or a combination of Big 4/regional accounting firm and industry (High Tech a plus)
  • Strong analytical skills, accuracy and attention to detail a must
  • Excellent organizational and verbal / written communication skills
  • Must be a self-starter, team player and able to work effectively in a fast paced, rapidly changing environment
  • Strong aptitude to identify opportunities to leverage technology to drive process efficiency
  • Ability to provide exceptional follow through and be business partner / customer success driven 
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills

Experience / Skills Desired

  • Technical accounting skills in a broad range of topics preferred
  • ERP System experience (ideally, NetSuite, Zuora)
  • Process re-engineering involvement and/or process efficiency focus
  • Management Reporting and Analysis involvement
  • Quick learner, ability to identify issues and resolve problems
  • CPA (or CPA Candidate) a plus
