Who We're Looking For - Managing Editor

As a Managing Editor on the Performance Marketing team, you will directly manage a team of Copywriters and work to ensure copy aligns with business goals and adheres to brand voice and tone guidelines, internal marketing scopes, and marketing channel best practices.

In addition to providing clear, consistent editorial feedback on all copy projects, you will work with writers to develop their skills. You'll also hold weekly 1:1s with Copywriters and meet regularly with marketing and functional leadership to align Copy team development, capabilities, and availability with marketing plans and content needs.

Beyond team management and craft development responsibilities, you'll support the Copy Director on high-level projects and contribute to relevant company-wide efforts.

What You'll Do

  • Manage, supervise, and mentor a team of Copywriters
  • Own and maintain onboarding processes and documentation
  • Provide clear and consistent feedback designed to reinforce strengths, improve skills, and boost copy efficacy
  • Work with the Copy Director to establish and communicate Copy team expectations
  • Meet as a leadership group to discuss high level initiatives and make key decisions
  • Connect Copywriters with key stakeholders to provide clarity on channel goals, metrics, and best practices
  • Identify opportunities to improve both efficiency and quality through process
  • Edit for organization, clarity, voice, tone, grammar, punctuation, and brand guidelines
  • Lead writers' workshops based on opportunity and content needs
  • Hold regular 1:1s with Copywriters to discuss craft, feedback, career development, and other timely issues
  • Work with marketing leaders to align on Copywriter feedback, understand Brand team goals, and position Copywriters for success
  • Collaborate with functional and channel stakeholders to ensure the Copy team is meeting project needs, aware of channel best practices, and contributing to strategic goals
  • Work cross-functionally to coordinate large projects that require the entire Copy team
  • Meet regularly with Copy Director to share team-related updates and align on priorities
  • Champion the strategic direction of Marketing Solutions
What You Need
  • Degree in English, marketing, or related field
  • 1+ years' leadership experience
  • 4+ years experience in advertising, online marketing, or related field
  • 5+ years experience in writing and editing
  • Knowledge of SEO, PPC, Email Marketing, Paid Social, Content Strategy, and CRO preferred
  • Ability to adhere to brand compliance guidelines
  • The ability to take/provide constructive and positive feedback
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • A capacity for solving complex problems and navigating conflict
  • Strong grasp of marketing trends
  • A firm knowledge of grammar, the elements of writing style, and how to edit for various content types
  • Must complete editing test upon request
