Head of Secondary Marketing

In this role, you will have the opportunity to build out the Secondary Marketing function at Clara in the way you've always envisioned possible. You’ll partner with product and engineering teams to develop a data-driven, analytical operation from the ground up and your work will empower us systematically to make better decisions in the day-to-day - think mortgage finance meets Silicon Valley: and we believe that with your help we can build a better secondary market execution and more precise risk modeling than anything that’s been done before. You will have to balance tactical and strategic work, and will be responsible for leading the team that will oversee all secondary marketing functions, including: running a lock desk, selecting investors, managing warehouse lines, and maintaining capital market relationships.

What you'll do

  • Oversee and execute secondary marketing operational functions, including hedging, pipeline management, and loan delivery, as well as support the build out of our servicing function
  • Manage relationships with investors (negotiate terms, fulfillment guidelines, develop new product offerings, etc) and warehouse lines
  • Work with senior management to have a key voice in corporate strategy, holistic design and implementation of the platform and creation of business intelligence capabilities
  • Expand and manage product/program offerings, pricing strategies and the deployment of credit and eligibility guidelines in coordination with peer leaders
  • Define and build our secondary hedge/analytics platform to enable best execution and manage interest rate risk in accordance with market conditions and company objectives
  • Translate knowledge of mortgage capital markets into technology driven processes; systematize pipeline management, loan tracking, shipping and sale execution reporting
  • Work with finance team to set pricing and loan level margin; partner with finance and data analytics teams to define metrics to enable better decisions
  • Coordinate with Compliance and Underwriting teams to adhere to investor policies, guidelines and procedures, interpret investor guidelines and apply them to the development of loan products and associated underwriting policies
  • In partnership with Senior Management, design and build our long-term capital markets strategy, including issuance of securities, management of MSRs, servicing, and a retained portfolio

About you

  • 8+ years of mortgage capital markets experience; deep understanding of all secondary market functions, including investor selection overlays, product, and pricing
  • A builder at heart; relishes the opportunity to create when things are undefined
  • Believes the mortgage industry is ripe for innovation and wants to be part of redefining the entire process through technology and intelligent design
  • Motivated by the opportunity to work in an entrepreneurial environment and apply new forms of technology to solve problems; willing to be hands on as well as strategic
  • Experience managing relationships with FNMA, FHLMC, Ginnie Mae, VA, and private investors
  • Bonus: A mix of mortgage banking and wall street capital markets experience
