SENIOR SPECIAL SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE (IAH)

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Uses English and at least one of the following languages, Spanish, Arabic, Turkish, French, or Vietnamese multi-lingual skills, and projects a polite, professional and enthusiastic image to the traveling public. Provides passengers, medical patients and airline personnel with directions and information regarding the Houston Airport System's terminal facilities and services. Greets and assists international and domestic visitors and dignitaries such as presidents of foreign countries, consul representatives, international officials, and local, state and federal government representatives. Schedules airport tours, ensures materials used in the operation are available and compiles airport tour information packets and giveaways. Monitoring and track performance, and identifying opportunities for process improvements. Coach and mentor SSR's by counseling, disciplining, monitoring, and appraising job results. Prepare work schedules and ensure an adequate level of staffing is available to address operational needs. Must be able to pass a criminal background check, obtain and maintain federally mandated security clearances where required.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Performing these duties will involve: interacting and working with people at all economic and professional levels; making visual observations; continuous walking, standing and sitting for extended periods; attending to details amid distractions; understanding spoken and written ideas; speaking and writing effectively; visually observing and differentiating details; operating city vehicles; dealing with people in tense situation; lifting up to twenty (20) pounds, and working as a member of the team. Must be willing and available to work all shifts, including rotation, weekends and holidays.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
High School Diploma or GED Certificate.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Two (2) year of experience using bilingual or multilingual skills in a customer service environment is required.

LICENSE REQUIREMENTS
Valid Class C Texas driver's license and compliance with city's policy on driving (AP 2-2).

PREFERENCES
Preference will be given to candidates proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel). One year of supervisory experience preferred. Candidate must be able speak, write and read English and Spanish, Arabic, Turkish, French, or Vietnamese.

Preference shall be given to eligible veteran applicants provided such persons possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the duties involved in the position applied for, such persons are among the most qualified candidates for the position, and all other factors in accordance with Executive Order 1-6.

SALARY INFORMATION
$15.60 - $31.85 Hourly
