SENIOR INVENTORY MANAGEMENT CLERK

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Provides administrative support in acquiring, tracking, controlling and disposing of the City's fixed assets in a manner that safeguards and allows for sound management of the public's asset investment. Creates and maintains records, logs, etc. of materials received stored, issued, delivered, distributed or disposed. Performs data entry using a purchasing and inventory control system. Compiles data for inventory reports. Assist in disposal of vehicles, rolling stock, land and buildings. Handles surplus and storage areas of inventory section. Resolves minor inventory location/usage discrepancies. Performs scheduled and periodic physical inventories by locating and counting assets, loading field inventory results and reconciling exceptions. Resolves special problems as required and other tasks as may be assigned. Oversees and ensures that inventory records are accurately maintained. Investigates reports and resolves minor inventory discrepancies. Coordinates or participates in physical inventory counts and reconciles counts with inventory records. Maintains storerooms, warehouses and storage area in a clean, orderly, safe and secure condition. Prepares daily, weekly and monthly reports and audits with established time frame.

WORKING CONDITIONS
This position routinely requires lifting of moderately heavy items, (up to 40 pounds). There are routine discomforts from exposure to moderate heat, cold, moisture/wetness and unpleasant air conditions.

This is a Department of Public Works and Engineering Emergency Management Position at the Tier II Level.

MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Requires a High school diploma or GED.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Two (2) years of inventory control, materials management, or record keeping experience are required. May require experience in operating a forklift and other motorized or non-motorized materials handling equipment.

MINIMUM LICENSE REQUIREMENTS
A Valid Texas Driver's License and compliance with the City of Houston's policy on driving.

PREFERENCES
Preference will be given to applicants who verifiable experience in SAP, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel.

Preference shall be given to eligible veteran applicants provided such persons possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the duties involved in the position applied for, such persons are among the most qualified candidates for the position, and all other factors in accordance with Executive Order 1-6.

SALARY INFORMATION
$28,808.00 - $32,786.00 Annually
