Customer Service Representative I (Occupancy Inspection)
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Assists walk in and telephone customers with building and trade applications. Explains processes and procedures thoroughly to assist customer transactions. Communicates with other sections as applicable. Accurately uses ILMS (Integrated Land Management System) to set up and record project data, sales orders and contractor information, where applicable. Answers incoming calls to section; provides information on permits or inspections in a timely and courteous manner. Ensures customers waiting in Q-Flow are served in a timely manner. Collects section records such as insurance, bond registration, certificates of occupancy or compliance, correspondence and office updates. Performs other duties as assigned.
The position is physically comfortable most of the time with occasional periods of stooping, bending and/or light lifting of materials of up to 10 pounds. In the Houston Permitting Center, the position may require lifting of moderately heavy items, such as plans (up to 40 pounds).
This is a Department of Public Works & Engineering Emergency Management position at the Tier III Level.
MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Basic knowledge of grammar, spelling, punctuation and simple mathematical functions like percentages, ratios, etc. as might normally be acquired through attainment of a high school diploma or a GED.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Six months of administrative or customer service related experiences are required. Associate's degree may be substituted for up to two (2) years of experience.
MINIMUM LICENSE REQUIREMENTS
Preference may be given to candidates who have experience using ILMS (Integrated Land Management System) and Occupancy Department business practices.
Preference shall be given to eligible veteran applicants provided such persons possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the duties involved in the position applied for, such persons are among the most qualified candidates for the position, and all other factors in accordance with Executive Order 1-6.
SELECTION/SKILLS TESTS REQUIRED: None
However, the department may administer a skills assessment evaluation.
$14.60 - $15.87 Hourly
