DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Uses effective problem-solving techniques to provide general information and customer assistance for excellent service. Receive, create, review, dispatch and updates service requests and work orders. Researches and reviews work management system, gathers information and requests field investigations. Maintains and monitors various records and reports. Interacts with 311, and groups outside of the City of Houston such as Texas One Call and other agencies. Dispatches and report emergencies to various sections. Performs research for Texas Public Information Act, Legal, Director's and Mayor's request for information; Maintains and audits a web based time and attendance system and performs as well as records maintenance for the Branch.

WORKING CONDITIONS: This position is physically comfortable; the individual has discretion about walking, standing, etc. There are no major sources of discomfort, i.e., essentially normal office environment with acceptable lighting, temperature and air conditions.

This is a Department of Public Works and Engineering Emergency Management Position at the Tier II Level.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Requires a High School diploma or GED.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Six months of administrative or customer service-related experience is required. Associate degree may substitute for up to two years of experience.


Preference shall be given to eligible veteran applicants provided such persons possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the duties involved in the position applied for, such persons are among the most qualified candidates for the position, and all other factors in accordance with Executive Order 1-6.

SALARY INFORMATION: $15.05 - $16.52 Hourly
