CUSTOMER SERVICE CLERK

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The City of Houston Health Department is in search of a qualified candidate to perform the following job duties:

Answers high volume of telephone calls, directing calls, sort mail, and perform basic PC duties. Also, will greet, registers, assist and direct visitors.
Perform data entry functions and assist with various projects as requested.
Assist in directing inquiries and complaints calls to proper person.

WORKING CONDITIONS
The position occasionally requires stooping or bending. Occasional very light lifting, such as three or four reams of papers or books (up to 20 pounds or an equivalent weight) may be required.

MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Requires a high school diploma or a GED.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Six months of clerical/customer service experience are required.

MINIMUM LICENSE REQUIREMENTS
None.

PREFERENCES
Preference shall be given to eligible veteran applicants provided such persons possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the duties involved in the position applied for, such persons are among the most qualified candidates for the position, and all other factors in accordance with Executive Order 1-6.

SALARY INFORMATION

$964.00 - $1,460.80 Biweekly

GRANT FUND POSITION
Grant and Special fund positions are dependent upon continued available funds. If funding is no longer available, employee may be laid off or transferred. Factors used in determining the salary offered include the candidate's qualifications as well as the pay rates of other employees in this classification.
