COMMUNITY SERVICE INSPECTOR
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Performs inspections, writes reports and researches the enforcement and application of various codes, ordinances and technical specifications. Performs intermediate traffic operations studies related to the Neighborhood Traffic Management program. Conducts field investigations to determine land use inventory, recommends traffic calming locations, and verifies construction of devices is completed. Assists staff with reviewing and processing applications, and responds to requests from Council Office, internal staff and citizens' requests. Will be required to attend public meetings (evening).
This position routinely requires lifting of moderately heavy items up to 40 lbs. and/or very long periods of walking on rough surfaces on a routine basis.
This is a Department of Public Works & Engineering Emergency Management position at the Tier III Level.
MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Requires a high school diploma or a GED certificate and up to eighteen (18) months of specialized education or training in a specific area or trade.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
One (1) year of experience related to customer service or an area of inspection to be performed is required.
MINIMUM LICENSE REQUIREMENTS
Valid Texas Driver's License and compliance with the City of Houston policy on driving (AP 2-2).
Preference will be given to applicants who are bilingual in Spanish.
Preference shall be given to eligible veteran applicants provided such persons possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the duties involved in the position applied for, such persons are among the most qualified candidates for the position, and all other factors in accordance with Executive Order 1-6.
$35,802.00 - $39,078.00 Annually
