Assistant Project Manager
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Administers and evaluates various construction contracts and projects. Work with other divisions, departments, and outside agencies to expedite construction contracts. Prepares and develops management reports, maintains construction project records, provides input for departmental decision-making and planning. Prepares monthly pay estimates, submittals and other job related correspondence pertaining to the project. Drafts and edits written materials such as reports, test results, procedural guidelines and policy statements. Maintains current knowledge of technological and construction procedures.
This position is physically comfortable; the individual has some discretion about walking, standing, etc.
This is a Department of Public Works & Engineering Emergency Management position at the Tier III Level.
MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Business Administration, Physical Sciences or a closely related field. Considerable knowledge of the construction industry is required.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Two years of experience in construction, construction inspection, design, geotechnical, environmental or in a closely related field are required.
Directly related professional experience may be substituted for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis.
MINIMUM LICENSE REQUIREMENTS
Requires a Valid Driver License and compliance with the City of Houston's policy on driving (AP 2-2).
Preference shall be given to eligible veteran applicants provided such persons possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the duties involved in the position applied for, such persons are among the most qualified candidates for the position, and all other factors in accordance with Executive Order 1-6.
$48,594.00 - $54,600.00 Annually
