D ESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Work on projects assigned by the Deputy Director of Office of Legal Services or Police Administrator. Assignments include conducting legal research, analysis of legal questions, and drafting of agreements necessary for conduct of the Department's business. Assist Department personnel with questions or issues regarding the identification, gathering and production of information or documents necessary to assist the Department and City Legal in defending litigation or claims and responding to discovery requests. Manage litigation and claims support function for Legal Services. All duties and responsibilities may not be included in the above job description.

WORKING CONDITIONS
The position is physically comfortable; the individual has discretion about walking, standing, etc.

"Must be able to pass a criminal background check, obtain and maintain federally mandated security clearances where required."

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Require a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration or a related field.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Four years of professional experience in business administration, finance or a closely related field are required.

Directly related professional experience may be substituted for the education requirement on a year-to-year basis.

LICENSE REQUIREMENTS
None.

PREFERENCES

High preference will be given to applicants a Doctor of Jurisprudence.
Selected candidate must have license to practice Law in the State of Texas.
Preference will also be given to candidates familiar with litigation involving law enforcement.

Preference shall be given to eligible veteran applicants provided such persons possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the duties involved in the position applied for, such persons are among the most qualified candidates for the position, and all other factors in accordance with Executive Order 1-6.
