Senior Research Associate | Cell Culture, Vector Production Testing

Position Summary and Key Responsibilities:

We are seeking a senior research associate with specific expertise in molecular biology, viral production and CRISPR-Cas9/TALEN gene editing to perform duties related to cell culture, vector production testing, and genetic modification of mammalian cell lines using established protocols. Specific duties will include cell culture maintenance, production of lentivirus, retrovirus, adeno-virus and adeno-associated virus, and standard molecular biology laboratory techniques. He or she will also be responsible for new assay development and establishing standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Specific duties include:
  • Standard molecular biology manipulations: cloning, PCR, purification of DNA and DNA transfection.
  • Viral vector production and cell transduction.
  • Design, execute and troubleshoot experiments.
  • Prepare detailed SOPs that enable transfer of validated assays to project team members and collaborators.
  • Other duties as assigned, including the management of laboratory equipment and supplies.

The person needs to be detail oriented with proven track record of carrying out the described duties. Some weekend work may also be necessary.

Minimum Education and Skills Required for Consideration:
  • Bachelor’s degree or Masters degree required.
  • Minimum Experience Five or more years related research/ laboratory experience with a Bachelor’s degree, or four or more years related research/ laboratory experience with a Master’s degree.
  • Excellent computer skills.
  • Ability to instruct/train others.
  • Laboratory equipment such as:
    • Centrifuge
    • Microscopes
  • Working/environmental conditions:Smoke free environment.
  • May be exposed to:
    • blood-borne pathogens
    • toxic chemicals
  • Subject to regularly changing priorities or work assignments
  • Protective equipment:Must use PPE as needed.
  • Physical Demands
  • Communication:Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with other departments.
