Position: Senior Oncolytic Virologist to Head a Transformative Laboratory at Beckman Research Institute/City of Hope
Highly progressive, well-funded oncolytic viral lab is seeking experienced research professor to lead overall vector research and development in partnership with a renowned clinician-scientist. Work done in the lab will have immediate clinical relevance with first-in human trials planned within the next 2 years. The ideal candidate is highly motivated and innovative. He/She will lead design, production, and in vitro and in vivo vector analysis and assist with the rapid progress of proprietary vectors from the lab to the patient.
Exciting opportunity for senior oncolytic virologist with robust poxvirus experience to achieve immediate clinical and translational relevance in the field. City of Hope is a freestanding Comprehensive Cancer Center that houses the Beckman Research Institute. These institutions have been on the forefront of translational oncology for many years. With three on-site Good Manufacturing Facilities on site and an extraordinary eye for forecasting and product development, this institution is one of the best in the world at taking scientific innovations from bench-to-bedside.
Design, generate, validate and test existing and novel oncolytic vectors in pre-clinical models with an emphasis on poxvirus vectors and herpes vectors
Assist in advancement of vectors to clinical use
Assist with generation of manuscripts, grants, and education of post-doctoral fellows
Supervise overall lab operations
Any other appropriate tasks
Present findings internally and externally
PhD. Virologic background that includes oncolytic viral experience as well as comfort with viral genome analysis and manipulation, cell and cancer biology, and cancer immunology
Candidate should be highly organized and motivated and demonstrate willingness and ability to collaborate in the interest of elevating the collective
