Research Associate II â€ Flow Cytometry Operations

Flow Cytometry operator position in the core facility for a diverse group of researchers at this national cancer institute. The Analytical Cytometry Core is a shared resource equipped with 6 cell sorters (AriaIII, AriaII SORP, 3-Aria Fusions, and BioRad S3) and 12 analyzers (3-Fortessa, 3-FortessaX20, LSRII, CyAn, Gallios, Attune NxT, C6 and FACSymphony).
Must be enthusiastic, self-motivated, dependable, and able to fulfill a service role in this busy core facility. Responsible for day to day instrument calibration, sample acquisition and/or sorting, data analysis, data management and backup, basic laboratory duties, and routine maintenance and trouble shooting of equipment.
Involved in assisting researchers with the design, execution, and interpretation of flow cytometry results and also keep accurate records of experiments that are run in the facility.
Once skills permit, this position will include training of new investigators on basic flow cytometry theory, operation of the analytical instrumentation, and utilization of various flow cytometry software programs (Summit, Diva, Flowjo, FCSexpress and Modfit). Must be able to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the facility.
- Bachelorâ€™s degree in biological sciences
- Flow Cytometry Experience is preferred
- Must be willing to work with complex instrumentation
- Must have excellent computer skills.
- Have the ability to work with a diverse group of people
- Excellent communication and problem solving skills
- Ability to work flexible hours
