Job Title: Research Associate I

Position Summary and Key Responsibilities:

A Research Associate I position is available at the City of Hope Beckman Research Institute in the department of Experimental Therapeutics. The project is focused on the therapeutic role of attenuated Salmonella and its anti-metastatic function as a treatment for various cancer types. The Research Associate I will perform a variety of basic and increasingly complex research tasks. This may include, but is not limited to, general laboratory and equipment maintenance, supply orders, assisting research fellows, and, most importantly, organization of lab reagents. Lastly, the incumbent should be able to assist in identifying new research hypotheses, which may include, but are not limited to, literature searches utilizing all available resources including electronic regarding new methodology, and designing experiments accordingly.

Follows established City of Hope and department policies, procedures, objectives, performance improvement, attendance, safety, environmental, and infection control guidelines, including adherence to the workplace Code of Conduct and Compliance Plan. Practices a high level of integrity and honesty in maintaining confidentiality.

Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

Weekly Schedule: The working hours for this position will be determined by the needs of the PI's research program. Work need of the laboratory may include night and weekend working hours.

Minimum Education and Skills Required for Consideration:

  • Bachelor's degree in biological sciences
  • 0-2 years of research/laboratory experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal skills.
