Position Summary:
Leads and manages the City of Hope’s Supportive Care Training Program for health care professionals, for local and national programs. Collaborates closely with the Chair and Executive Director of the Department of Supportive Care Medicine to develop curricula, strategies and operations for the national training program. Oversees management of all program phases, including planning, development, marketing, delivery, implementation and evaluation. Serves as a primary point of contact and information for the program. Identifies and cultivates relationships with faculty members, staff, and prospective health care trainees. Leads in writing and submission of progress reports to funding agencies, foundations, and individuals. Supports fund raising effort for the program by providing assistance in developing and writing donor proposals and grants. Disseminates program data and research through publications, presentations, and (social) media throughout City of Hope and to both national and international audiences.

Essential Functions:

  • Leads and manages the City of Hope Supportive Care Training Program for Health Care Professionals nationally and locally, including curricula writing, planning, development, marketing, delivery, implementation and ongoing evaluation. Oversees all operational aspects training meetings and related activities.
  • Collaborates closely with the Chair and Executive Director of the Department of Supportive Care Medicine to develop strategies and operations for the overall success of the training program.
  • Creates marketing materials, oversees management of application process, website content, and (social) media outreach.
  • Leads communication with faculty, and identifies and cultivates relationships with prospective health care trainees and/or institutions.
  • Collaborates with the Administrative Program Coordinator in the development and execution of materials and workshops and ensures all materials adhere to Continuing Medical Education (CME) agency standards and regulations.
  • Collaborates with the business team to create program budgets.
  • Manages the development and design of patient assessment collection tools and focus groups, oversees analysis of program success data, and write and submit reports.
  • Advances research mission of the Department by overseeing statistical analyses, authoring publications and presentations, presenting at national and international conferences, etc.
  • External Contacts: Patients and caregivers, community members, organizations and health care professionals serving those affected by cancer, community foundations and organizations, local government and funding agencies.
  • Internal Contacts: Physicians, nurses, social workers, psychologists, psychiatrists, patient advocates, Information Technology, Quality, Risk and Resource Management and other health care team members.

Position Qualifications:

Minimum Education:
  • Bachelor's degree, experience may substitute for minimum education requirements.

Preferred Education:
  • Master’s Degree in health related field preferred.

Minimum Experience:
  • 5 years education program development and implementation experience. Preferred: business management within an academic or research environment experience, 2 year psychosocial program development experience

Preferred Experience:
  • Psychosocial oncology, database management
  • Business management within an academic or research environment experience, 2 year psychosocial program development experience
