The Beckman Research Institute of City of Hope is looking for a talented Postdoctoral Fellow.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Design and perform independent experiments in tissue culture, and viral infections in rodent tumor models.
- Design, rescue and characterize (in vitro) novel oncolytic viruses
- Execute experiments especially BSL2 work in compliance with city of hope policies from set up to take down, and downstream cellular analysis.
- Independently design and perform immune profiling experiments from preclinical and clinical samples.
- Collect, analyze, and present scientific data to the team; with proposed next steps.
- Self-motivated and driven to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Coordinate research efforts and make key scientific and technical contributions for the strategic development of cross-functional projects.
- The candidate will perform independent experimental research, but will work in close collaboration with the rest of the scientific team in a highly cross-functional and project-oriented environment.

Basic education, experience and skills required for consideration:
- A Ph.D. in Virology, Immunology, Molecular/Cellular Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field.
- Industry or academic experience in virotherapy, immunology, in vivo oncology and or pharmacology.
- Proficiency in cloning and virus engineering or have the background and skills to master them in a short period of time.
- Proficiency in numerous mouse techniques, including various routes of injection, mouse tumor models, and murine immunology.
- Track record of recent scientific publications
- Ability to learn and acquire new methods and emerging technologies; must be able to adapt, develop, and validate published assays into the new lab environment.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Broad experience with immunological and molecular principles and techniques including primary cell isolation/culture, ELISA, cell sorting, qPCR, RT-PCR, RNA and DNA isolation
- Cell proliferation and cytotoxicity assay
- Virus rescue and amplification
- Molecular cloning of viral vectors for gene therapy or oncolytics.
- Team spirit and ability to work in a multidisciplinary matrix environment.
- In vivo oncology
- Experience working with various mammalian cell lines
