A postdoctoral fellow position is available at City of Hope, one of a prestigious group of NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Centers. The successful applicant will join a highly competitive research lab to investigate molecular mechanisms underlying transcriptional control and cell signaling during the course of cancer initiation and progression. Specifically, the applicant will use “cutting-edge” and unbiased in vitro biological approaches and unique and innovative genetically engineered mouse models to uncover gene-expression and genomic and epigenetic alterations that regulate oncogenic transformation and other cellular events in tumorigenesis.
Key Responsibilities include:
- The successful applicant will investigate steroid hormone action, transcriptional control, and cell signaling in development and tumorigenesis.
- The Fellow will develop and use novel and advanced biological approaches, and genetically engineered mouse models to uncover gene-expression and genomic and epigenetic alterations in cancer initiating cells in order to understand mechanisms underlying tumor initiation, progression, and metastasis.
Basic education, experience and skills required for consideration:
- Ph.D. or M.D/Ph.D. degree in Cancer Biology, Molecular Biology, Genetics, Biochemistry, Cell Biology, or a related field.
- A proven track record of creativity and productivity.
- Highly self-motivated, strong desire to learn, and have excellent communication skills.
- Previous experience with mouse models of human diseases, cancer biology, molecular biology, or genetics is highly desired, but not required.
