MS SQL Server Database Administrator

The Database Administrator (DBA) is responsible for 24/7 administration of all database systems in the enterprise.

The position manages backup and recovery, security, performance tuning and optimization across multiple database management systems. The position assists with architectural design and implementation of new databases as well as upgrades and improvement to existing databases. The DBA troubleshoots and resolves database related issues, participates in the design and implementation of database environments to meet the needs of the organization. The position works closely with Application Analysts, System Administrators, and others to ensure database integrity and availability. The DBA implements and monitors replication, data movement and integration across the organization.

Specific job competencies include:

  • 6 (+) years of experience with Microsoft SQL Server database administration with medium size environment.
  • In depth experience with Microsoft database design and tuning.
  • Experience with Microsoft replication techniques including transactional, snapshot, and merge replication.
  • Experience with Microsoft HA techniques such as Clustering, database mirroring and Always on.
  • Experience with SQL Server 2012 or later.
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server Security.

Preferred Skills:

  • Familiar with Microsoft data migration methods
  • Familiar with Microsoft SQL Server audit features
  • Familiar with Windows server administration and networking
  • Familiar with Windows clustering
  • Experience with SSRS, SSIS, and SSAS
  • PowerShell
  • Familiar with Epic is a plus
  • Familiarity with other RDBMs
  • Oracle 11G or Later
  • MySQL
  • Microsoft SQL Server on Azure
  • INTERSYSTEMS CACHE

Position Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field. Experience may substitute for minimum education requirements
  • Six years in the field of database administration with experience in the design, planning, implementation and monitoring of database systems in a heterogeneous multi-vendor networked environment that includes Unix and NT platforms.
  • Good written and verbal communications skills.
