Job Title: Medical Coding Educator (2 Openings)


Location: Monrovia Foundation Admin Office

Position Summary:

The Coding Educator Specialist provides educational and physician support for coding and billing practices. Obtaining, interpreting, analyzing and communicating information regarding physician reimbursement legislation and third party regulations on an on-going basis to clinicians and professional coders. Providing continuing education in coding and billing of specialty services and third party regulations.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Focusing on potential documentation improvement opportunities and issues by specialty for E&M and surgical clinicians.
  • Train new providers and faculty staff on E&M coding of their professional services.
  • Review remittance advises for rejection resolution and training opportunities.
  • Work with various leadership and departments, including the departments of Billing, Compliance and Professional fee Coding to determine areas of both risk and opportunity.
  • Provide information and training on regulatory updates and standards to PBS Staff.
  • Assist with the development and /or revision of SuperBill templates as may be required from time to time.
  • Provide suggestions on appropriate documentation to ensure complete and accurate billing that reflect current demands of regulatory and third party payers.

Minimum Education:

Bachelor's degree in a relevant field. Experience may substitute for education requirement.

Minimum Experience:

6 years of related experience in a healthcare setting.

Required Certification/Licensure:

Certified Professional Coder with active AAPC membership, or CCS-P with active AHIMA membership.
