Job Title: Manager, Sterile Processing Full-Time/Days

Position Summary and Key Responsibilities

The Manager, in collaboration with and direction from the Director of PeriOperative Services, is responsible for the management of day-to-day operation of the Sterile Processing Department.The Manager facilitates ordering and receiving instrumentation, record keeping, and instrument processing and case cart preparation and delivery. The position also requires assisting in developing, updating and maintaining policies and procedures in accordance with the Joint Commission, AAMI, AORN, and OSHA guidelines to ensure proper cleaning, preparation, sterilization and distribution of surgical instrumentation and SPD supplies. The Coordinator supervises the CSSR staff. The Manager reports to the Director of PeriOperative Services. The Manager ensures the timely processing and delivery of sterile instrumentation to the Operating Room and other Clinic areas. The Manager is responsible for facilitating, stimulating and evaluating human resources to provide quality, cost efficient processing and supply service to the Operating Rooms and ancillary services. Staffing the department to meet operational requirements based on resources available and the daily OR schedule.The Manager effectively utilizes resources to develop cost efficient delivery of high quality service.Collaborating with OR Nurse Manager and Service Line Leaders to update procedure-specific pick lists and tray lists used to prepare for scheduled surgical procedures.

Minimum Education and Skills Required for Consideration:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent required

Must have 5-7 years of current experience working in a Central/Sterile Processing Sterilization or Operating Room environment. Certification as a Certified in Healthcare Leadership (CHL) supervisor/ manager level, preferred.

Must have (or obtain within 90 days of hire) a certification as a Certified Registered Central Sterile Technician (CRCST) by the International Association for Central Sterile Healthcare Materiel Management (IAHCSMM), or, as a Central Sterile Professional Department Technician (CSPDT) by the American Society of Healthcare Central Sterile Professionals (ASHCSP). Certifications need to be maintained by obtaining the required CEU's each year through the certifying agency

Formal training in health care, business, or materials management obtained through college credits
