Manager, FincSupportSvcs

Directly plans and coordinates all Financial Support Services operations. Has excellent problem-solving skills and ensures optimum customer services within all areas for Financial Support Services. Directs the implementation and interpretation of the institutions polices related to patient financial counseling, insurance verification and manage care authorizations. Identify, implement, and maintain technology and acts as a medium for change to meet new trends, current and future business. Maintain liaison network with all departments within the institution including physicians and the physician medical billing department in order to facilitate, resolutions of operational, general authorizations and billing issues in a timely manner. Responsible for organization of staff functions in order to obtain optimal performance and fulfillment of the departmental goals, and objectives in order to meet the overall success of City Of Hope. Establish and maintain high quality standards and performance expectations of all staff.

Essential Functions:

Responsible for managing day to day operations for Financial Support Services with emphasis on customer services, manage care authorizations, insurance verification, Financial Counseling and Charity Care screening process. Member of the CIS implementation team, and attends meetings with various Revenue Cycle tern members as required, with various responses and outcomes.

Key Responsibilities include:

Revenue Cycle Management

Securing financial assessments, authorizations, insurance coverage and communicate to physicians and related departments, with various responses and outcomes.

Technology Systems Management

Develop integrated technologies to support operational and financial needs for Patient Business Services/Financial Support Services. Participate in evaluation and planning for future system needs.

Personnel Management

Must have excellent communication and problem solving skills. Needs to have detailed knowledge of state and federal programs, COH Charity Care Assistance program and manage care authorization process. Strong clinical knowledge intergraded with financial and payer requirements. Hires, mentors, trains, and builds a cohesive working environment among the staff, and delegates work as appropriate.

Compliance/ Monitoring

Routine, operational process of verifying that policies and procedures are being followed and control are working as intended. Monitoring ensures that business risks are being identified and addressed. Routinely monitors. Findings are analyzed and action is taken accordingly.

Minimum Education Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (Experience may substitute for minimum education requirements)
  • 5+ years in healthcare finance, including preparation of annual budgets and feasibility studies
  • Hospital/healthcare industry experience is desirable, but not required.
