The LVN Supervisor is a licensed professional who is responsible for overseeing the clinical activities for the City of Hope Arcadia practice. This role works in conjunction with the Director of Practice Management to deliver direct medical management for a defined ambulatory population according to standardized procedures and in collaboration with a physician advisor. Provides primary care within scope of license in collaboration with physicians. Professional practice as a health team member is defined by departmental policies with institutional approval. Acts as a patient advocate in all ethical and legal aspects. Participates in the supervision of LVNs, M.A.'s and other clinical staff. Partners with the Director of Practice Management on staffing, which includes hiring, making work assignments, coaching, training, evaluating job performance and clinical competencies and administering disciplinary actions as appropriate. Participates in planning for financial, capital equipment and facilities needs of City of Hope Arcadia and related programs, Actively participates with peers, subordinates and supervisors in constructive problem solving. Contributes to quality improvement initiatives and corrective actions required to address regulatory accreditation standards.
Prepares patients to see the physicians, facilitates lab tests and other physician orders as directed. Reports all results from in-house lab equipment as well as samples sent to reference lab under the direct supervision of the Clinical Laboratory Scientist. Performs venipuncture, specimen collection, specimen processing and simple technical procedures under the direct supervision of the Clinical Director. Keeps work area clean and maintains adequate supply levels.
Minimum Education: High School Diploma
Minimum Experience: Previous supervisory or program coordination experience preferred in surgery and /or oncology. Minimum one year of experience in phlebotomy. At least one year of experience in primary care clinical assisting. Experience performing lab tests and processing lab and diagnostic study orders. Electronic medical Record experience preferred.
Required License/Certification: Current/valid California Licensed Vocational Nurse License andBLS CPR card (required). IV Certification preferred
