Position Summary
The Lead Cook will accurately and efficiently prepare, portion, cook, and present a variety of hot and/or cold food items for various meal periods: to include Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, and Special/Catered Events. This individual, under the leadership of on-site management and/or supervisors, will coordinate the activities of workers and/or service employees. The general responsibilities of the position include those listed below, but City of Hope may identify other responsibilities of the position.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Responsible for the supervision of day-to-day activities of subordinates and assigns responsibility for specific work or functional activities as directed by management. Maintains key control of operations and responsible for activities to ensure opening, closing and daily procedures are completed.
- Assists in monitoring employee productivity and provides suggestions for increased service or productivity.
- Works with customers to ensure satisfaction in such areas as quality, service and problem resolution.
- Performs day-to-day assignments in addition to supervision duties.
- Responsible for orientation and training of employees. Takes an interest and initiative in the development of the foodservice team.
- May clean and sanitize work stations and equipment and must follow all City of Hope and regulatory rules and procedures.
- Attends all allergy and foodborne illness in-service training. Participates in regular safety meetings, safety training and hazard assessments. Attends training programs (classroom and virtual) as designated.
- May receive inventory and move/lift foodstuffs and supplies.
- Complies with all company safety and risk management policies and procedures and reports all accidents and injuries in a timely manner.
Follows established City of Hope and department policies, procedures, objectives, performance improvement, attendance, safety, environmental, and infection control guidelines, including adherence to the workplace Code of Conduct and Compliance Plan.
Practices a high level of integrity and honesty in maintaining confidentiality.
Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
Basic education, experience and skills required for consideration:
- High School diploma, GED or equivalent experience.
- 5 years or more of related work experience.
- Valid ServeSafe Certificate
Additional Information:
- To protect the health of patients and staff and to comply with new State of California mandates, City of Hope staff are required to show proof of full vaccination. Compliance is a condition of employment.
