Histotechnologist

The Histotechnologist performs routine histological and immunohistochemical laboratory procedures as part of tissue specimen processing for microscopic evaluation by pathologists. The person in this role also fixes, processes, embeds, mounts on a slide, selects correct antibodies and stains for surgical, biopsy, neuropathological and autopsy tissue sections so that the presence or absence of disease may be effectively demonstrated to the pathologist responsible for reading the slide and making a diagnosis.

Minimum Education and Skills Required for Consideration:

  • Minimum Education: High School or equivalent. Post High School Vocational / Specialized Training preferred. Experience may substitute for minimum education requirements
  • Minimum Experience: Up to 1 year of related experience
  • Certification Required: HT(ASCP) or HTL; or eligible and pending certification within one year of hire date
