City of Hope / Vizient™ RN Residency Program for Experienced Registered Nurses

Description:

City of Hope offers an RN Residency Program. The program includes a 14-week classroom / didactic training, precepted learning with an oncology RN on the unit, and the Vizient™ RN Residency program. This part of the program is delivered as 4-hour monthly sessions over the course of the first year. The Residency includes customized training and competency validation in chemotherapy / biotherapy administration and training in hematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT).

The program starts Monday, June 26, 2017 Available units include Medical Oncology, Surgical Oncology, Medical Oncology/Telemetry, Surgical Oncology/Telemetry, Medical-Surgical, Medical-Surgical/Telemetry, Hematology, Hematopoietic Cell Transplantation (Bone Marrow Transplantation), Pediatric Hematology / Oncology, and Intensive Care Unit.

Full-time 12-hour night shifts are available.

Minimum Education and Skills Required for Consideration:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Current California Registered Nurse License.
  • Current BLS through the American Heart Association.
  • Current ACLS through the American Heart Association required for some units (Medical Oncology/Telemetry, Surgical Oncology/Telemetry, and Medical-Surgical/Telemetry).
  • RNs with one to two years of acute care experience (no new grad RN applications will be considered).
