Job Title: Data Manager
Position Summary and Key Responsibilities:
The Cancer Registry Data Manager will be responsible for assisting with numerous projects to assist the Cancer Registry Director and the Cancer Registrars. Such tasks include performing long-term follow-up, review of casefinding lists to ensure proper cancer case reporting working with the Regional Registry to ensure proper cancer case reporting of City of Hope Foundation Clinics, chart review for Oncology specific metrics and other tasks as necessary.
75% The Cancer Registry Data Manager plays a key role in ensuring that all reportable cancer cases seen only at the City of Hope Clinics are reported to the appropriate Regional Registry per State law. This will include chart review and proper documentation to be provided to the Regional Registry.
10% Works with other pertinent Cancer Registry staff on long-term follow up of eligible patients in the Cancer Registry database to ensure successful Commission on Cancer (CoC) accreditation.
10% Works with Cancer Registry Director on Oncology specific quality metrics by monitoring data submitted to the RQRS system and assisting to alert physicians about pending issues related to those metrics.
5% Works with pertinent Cancer Registry staff to ensure accuracy of reported data and assist in casefinding functions as necessary.
Follows established City of Hope and department policies, procedures, objectives, performance improvement, attendance, safety, environmental, and infection control guidelines, including adherence to the workplace Code of Conduct and Compliance Plan. Practices a high level of integrity and honesty in maintaining confidentiality.
Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
Minimum Education and Skills Required for Consideration:
- Associates Degree or, in lieu of degree, experience may substitute for minimum education requirements.
- One year experience working in a health care setting, preferable in research.
- Medical Terminology. Written skills
- Preferred Education: Bachelor's Degree
- Preferred Courses/Training: Cancer Information Management or related health field
- Pref. Certification/Licensure: Certified Tumor Registrar
- Preferred Experience: 2 years' experience as a, data manager working in a health care setting, preferably in Cancer Registry
