Job Title: Cytogenetic Technologist I

Position Summary and Key Responsibilities:

Working as authorized by the Laboratory Director under Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments of 1988, CFR Section 493.1445(a). Uses established cytogenetic/molecular genetic methodology to perform and interpret a variety of standardized clinical laboratory tests for the purpose of postnatal diagnosis of chromosomal aberrations, molecular genetic disorders and diagnosis/prognosis of cancer and preneoplastic syndromes.

Follows established City of Hope and department policies, procedures, objectives, performance improvement, attendance, safety, environmental, and infection control guidelines, includingadherence to theworkplaceCode of Conduct and Compliance Plan. Practices a high level of integrity and honesty in maintaining confidentiality.

Minimum Education and Skills Required for Consideration:

Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree in a Chemical, Physical, Biological, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology.

Minimum Experience: Clinical cytogenetic technical experience (minimum of 1 year experience of chromosome analysis) under a qualified director.

Required Courses/Training: Thorough understanding of procedures to perform/prepare biological specimens for genetic analyses.

Required License/Certification: CG(ASCP) CM Certification and Clinical Cytogenetics Scientist License (California State License).
