Position Summary and Key Responsibilities
The City of Hope Operating Room Nurse Manager role provides an exciting leadership opportunity to care for cancer patients alongside a dedicated team of professionals. Our operating rooms provide focused expertise on the delivery of high quality, cost effective surgical treatment that will complement a long established reputation for excellent surgical care of patients with advanced, complex cancers. In this role you will provide clinical and administrative leadership for nursing staff by developing, implementing, and evaluating programs, services, procedures, and quality nursing/AORN standards to ensure exemplary care for patients undergoing surgical procedures at City of Hope during all hours of operation.
The Clinical Nurse Manager provides input and is expected to meet budget, revenue and expense targets. Other aspects of this role include hiring and supervising employees, assigning work, coaching, evaluating performance, and completing simple corrective actions. The nurse manager plays a pivotal role in offering transformational leadership by creating and sustaining a healthy work environment that supports, furthers and promotes excellence in patient care, clinical nursing practice and patient safety in a highly collaborative interprofessional practice environment. - Hours of Operation: Monday Friday 0645 1900 (Staff call teams cover after hours and weekends)
6 Operating Room Suites and 2 minor procedure rooms
43 staff members assisting in 4100 surgical cases/year
Collaborative perioperative leadership team approach
- Perioperative Nurse Director
- Pre-op/PACU Nurse Manager
- OR Clinical Nurse Manager
- Outpatient Surgery Center Nurse Manager
- Assistant Clinical Nurse Manager
- Sterile Processing Manager
- 2 Perioperative Clinical Nurse Educators
- Perioperative Business and Systems Administrator
Minimum Education and Skills Required for Consideration:
Bachelors in Nursing required. Master's degree preferred.
- CNOR is highly preferred
5 years of clinical experience in area in Surgical Services plus two years prior management experience
- Oncology experience preferred
- Robotic surgery experience preferred
Current California RN License
American Heart Association BLS
